Roads

The roads in and out of the village comprise:

 

  • The B1502, which runs from the Amwell Roundabout into the village High Street (approximately 0.5 miles away).

  • The B181, which is accessible via the A414 from Harlow and runs through the village.

  • From Ware access is available from Hollycross Road leading onto Cappell Lane and connecting with the B181. Also, from Ware is Lower Road leading onto Amwell Lane, where access onto the High Street is possible.

  • From Hoddesdon is Hoddesdon Road, which allows access onto the High Street into the village and connects with the local bus route.

  • The main roads leading into London, are the A10, which can be accessed via the B1502 at the Amwell Roundabout. The M25 is approximately 20 minutes drive. Luton and Stanstead airports are approximately 42 and 28 miles away respectively.

Trains

St Margarets railway station is on the Hertford East branch line off the West Anglia Main Line in the east of England, serving the villages of Stanstead St Margarets and Stanstead Abbotts, Hertfordshire. It is 21 miles 25 up the line from London Liverpool Street.

 

There is a ticket office that is open at peak times as well as two self-service ticket machines. There is also the Oyster card system that was extended through to Hertford East.

 

The typical Monday-Saturday off-peak service is two trains per hour to London Liverpool Street via Tottenham Hale, and two trains per hour to Hertford East.

 

The typical peak service towards London is three trains per hour, two of which are for Liverpool Street via Seven Sisters and one is for Stratford via Tottenham Hale.

 

The typical service on a Sunday is two trains per hour to Stratford via Tottenham Hale

Buses

There are 4 bus routes that serve our village, as follows:

 

  • 10 which runs from Hertford through to Church Langley, Harlow. This is operated by Arriva Herts and Essex.

  • 351 runs from Hertford to Bishops Stortford. This is operated by Galleon Travel

  • 410 runs from Waltham Cross to Harlow via Cheshunt  Brookfield, Broxbourne and Hoddesdon. This is operated by Galleon Travel

  • 310 runs from Waltham Cross to Hertford via Cheshunt Broxbourne and Hoddesdon and Ware . This is operated by Arriva

In addition to a locally run taxi business within the village (01920 877700) ,which is based at The Maltings, Roydon Rd, there are numerous taxi/min-cab companies in the nearby towns.
